Fundraiser Issues

Sorry for any fundraiser delivery mix-ups.  Cookie order forms and prizes will be sent home Friday.  We have two unclaimed cookie dough orders and a few Celebrating Home orders in Mr. Meador's office.  Please come get them!!!

There were a few misc boxes of dough that were shipped separately.  The company did not give us a list of who they belong to, so if you are missing a container of cookie dough ask, we probably have it!

We are doing our best to replace the broken candles prior to break.  Sorry for any difficulties this may cause.

Holiday Shop

Dear Parents, Teachers and Bingham supporters:

Beginning Thurs, Dec 1 until Wed,Dec 7, PTA will host a Holiday Shop on the stage.  The Shop will include a mini-Scholastic Book Fair and Santa's Workshop.  We still need some volunteers to help with the event.  

We need workers for the following time slots:
Thurs, Dec 1  3:15-5pm
Fri, Dec 2 8-8:30am and 3:15-4:30pm
Mon, Dec 5 8:30-9am and 3:15-4pm
Tues, Dec 6 3:15-4pm
Wed, Dec 7 8:30-9am

Holiday Book Fair and Santa's Workshop coming soon!

We are trying something new this year.  We will be hosting a small Holiday Book Fair along with our Santa's Workshop.

If you would like to volunteer for either the Fair or the Workshop, please let PTA know. We will be open beginning Thurs, Nov 30 until Thurs, Dec 7 weekdays from 8-9am and 3-5 pm.

The night was a huge success!  I want to thank all the teachers and volunteers who helped with set up, running various games and stations, and the clean up.   You are priceless to me!

Well another wonderful Open House has come and gone.  The night was a huge success!  Thanks to all the volunteers who came and worked the bake sale and the book fair.  Remember, the book fair will continue thru Friday just in case you haven't had a chance to stop by.

Most of all, I want to thank our teachers and Mr. Meador.  We are proud to call Bingham our school and you are the reason! 

Volunteers needed

On Tuesday, Sept 27, Bingham will host it's Open House.  As last year, we are providing dinner for the faculty and hosting a bake sale in the Cafe to raise money for PTA.  Additionally, the entire week (Sept 26-30) we will be hosting the Scholastic Book Fair on the stage.  We still need some volunteers for both events.  Please look at the following times.  If you are able to help please respond to this email, call or text me.

help with sales table any time from 5:30 till 7:00pm  Even if you could help 30 minutes, that would help.  We also need volunteers to bring baked goods such as cookies, cupcakes or brownies for sale.

Sorry for the delay

Dear Parents,

I want to apologize for the delay in providing copies of the talent show.  I will get the copies to you.  Unfortunately two days after school ended, my grandfather passed away and I have not been in the Springfield area since that time.

WE are in the home stretch....

Well parents, teachers and faculty, we are finally near the end of the school year.  Bingham PTA would like to say thank you for all your help and support.  We are only successful with you! 

In the last week of school, we have the following events:
Mon, May 30 - No school for Memorial Day
Tues, May 31 - 5th grade promotion 2:00pm
Wed, June 1 - Talent Show 1:30pm
Thur, June 2 - Field Day
Fri, June 3 - Wonder Years promotion 9:30am and Early Dismissal 1:30pm

Over the summer, PTA will be hosting fundraisers at Wal-Mart on East Kearney and Glenstone and at Dillons on East Sunshine.  We will be selling candy and Celebrating Home candles.  We will post the dates for those sales on the blog and send out a brief email. 

We will also have a table at the East Grand Back to School Bash on August 14.  2011-2012 PTA memberships and T-shirts will be available at that time.

More volunteers needed please

I am asking again for help.  Some parents and teachers have already volunteer and for that I am deeply greatful!  We still need help with both the bookfair and with the Family Reading Night.
Here is a list of hours we need help with the book fair:

Monday 4:30 -5:30
Tuesday 3:15-5:30 and during the event 6:30-7:30
Wednesday 3:15-4:30
Thursday 4:30-5:30

For Family Reading Night, we still need volunteers to help serve food, and work the sales table, any shift between 5:30 and 7:00pm

Don't forget, Springfield Cardinals tickets are now on sale.  The seats are in field box C, near 1st base.  Tickets are $9.00 each for both students and adults.  Place your orders early, we only have 45 left!

Family Literacy Night and Spring Book Fair

Hello everyone!

I hope you have been enjoying the warmer weather :)

We have some upcoming events I want to share with you.  The discount card fundraiser will end on April 15.  All orders need to be turned into the office by then.  Beginning April 25, PTA will be selling field box tickets to the May 7, Springfield Cardinals game for Bingham Spirit Night.  Tickets are $9.00 each, and will be available until May 3rd.

On May 3rd we will have our Families are Wild about Literacy Night from 5:30 to 7:00pm.  Presenters will be reading stories about various animals--and some animals will be there too-- in the classrooms and Dickerson Park Zoo will also be on hand with animals.  There is no cost to attend, but PTA will be selling concessions in the gym such as pizza, cupcakes, chips and soda.  We will also be raffling off 50 free books and doing a raffle for any remaining Cardinals tickets ($1.00 raffle ticket per chance).  PTA could use about 5 volunteers to help with serving food, assisting teachers and raffle sales.

During the week of May 2-6, PTA will host our Spring Buy one Get one Free Book Fair.  The fair will be open before and after school and during Literacy Night.  I am looking for some volunteers to work after school hours.  Any times between 3:15 and 5:30 M,W,Th,F would be great and Tues 3:15-7:30 times are also available.  Additionally, we need some stuffed animals to decorate the book fair in our Wild About Animals theme.

Spring Parents Night Out

PTA will be hosting the spring Parents Night Out on Friday, April 8, from 6-9pm.  If you are interested in helping with this event, please contact me immediately.  I need at least two assistants.  Depending upon the weather, we will try to do some outdoor games, have dinner in the gym, make a craft and watch a movie.  The December PNO was a lot of fun and I'm looking forward to this one :)

Discount cards

Our Spring Fundraiser is drawing to an end.  Order forms need to be turned in with payment this Friday.  The discount cards are good for an entire year!  The cards sell for $10.00 and Bingham PTA receives 50% profit from all the discount card sales. 

Monies raised by PTA this year are going to class field trips, and at the request of the faculty, if possible we will also be repairing the west parking lot (the lot leading to the kindergarten, first and second grade playground), and creating an asphalt path to the track for the lower grades.  This repair will not be able to take place until the school year has finished.  It cannot be done over Spring Break because the temperatures will not be high enough.

Again, thank you for all your support!  Each parent, supporter, teacher and faculty member makes Bingham a great place for our kids to go to school!

Upcoming Events

March is shaping up to be a fun and busy month! 

February 28-March 18 -- Discount Cards Spring Fundraiser. Order forms and information will come home Monday, February 28.
March 1 -- students will be released two hours early.
March 8 -- we have our PTA meeting and elections for next year's board.  If you wish to put your name into the nominiations, please notify PTA, and attend the meeting!  Immediately following the meeting, Mr. Meador will be hosting a Parent's Forum.  Details about the forum will be sent home this week.  We encourage all parents to attend!  We are providing dinner for this event.
March 16 -- kindergarten registration is from 9am-3pm
March 17 -- Spring Picture day
March 21-25 -- Spring Break

PTA meeting rescheduled!!!

The February PTA meeting and 3rd grade music program have both been rescheduled to next Tuesday, February 15, 2011.  The PTA will be at 6:00pm.  We will be taking nominations for the 2011-2012 PTA board.  At this time, we only have one returning board member.  Please volunteer your time to help with this wonderful program!

This week at Bingham Feb 7-11

Dear Parents and Teachers:

We have a lot of things going on in the next few weeks!  Hopefully, we have seen the end of the major snow and won't miss any more school days :)

This week we will continue our Computers For Education fundraiser.  Packets went home the last Friday in January.  Please fill out as many postcards as you can. Each student who returns their booklet (no matter how many cards are filled out) will receive a small prize, and then be entered to win a new Razor kick scooter!  All booklets are due by Friday, February 11.  The scooter drawing will be on Monday the 14th.

Also this week PTA will be selling Valentine lollipops in the mornings.  Each sucker is only 25 cents.  Sales will be from 8:15 am until 8:45 am Monday thru Friday.

The spring yearbook sale will also kick off on Monday.  Look for flyers to come home with your students.  Yearbook details are as follows: $17 basic book price, February 18^th order deadline.

If you have photos of school events, please email them to BinghamYearbook@yahoo.com  We have very few activity page photos.  You can send in first day of school photos, Christmas Party & Valentine’s Day party pics, field trip photos, Grandparents Day, Fall Carnival, etc.

Class Valentine parties will be on Friday, February 11, at 2:30pm.  Be sure to check with your child's teacher to see how you can help.

REMEMBER!!!  Our PTA meeting will be on Tuesday, February 8 at 6:00pm.  If you are interested in becoming a board member for next year please be sure to attend.

Valentine Sucker Sales

During the week before Valentine's, February 7 - 11, PTA will sell suckers.  We will have a table in the front hallway before school daily from 8 until 8:40am.  Suckers will cost 25 cents each.

The time has come to elect next year’s officers.  We will need to fill the following positions:

Please come to the  next meeting on January 11 at 6:00 to place your name in the nominations.  Elections will be held at the March meeting, and must be submitted to Springfield Council of PTA's by March 31.
